Cerúndolo Reaches Argentina Open Final

Buenos Aires, February 14 (NA) – Argentine Francisco Cerúndolo (1st) advanced to the Argentina Open final after a great victory over his compatriot Tomás Etcheverry (7th). Cerúndolo, who will be seeking his fourth ATP title, won 6-3 and 7-5 after one hour and 51 minutes of play, according to the Argentine News Agency. The highest-ranked Argentine in the ATP rankings (19th) took the lead in the first set thanks to a break he managed to get on the only opportunity presented to him, while he defended Etcheverry's chance very well. The second set was much more even and the parity was maintained until the eleventh game, where Cerúndolo got the break that would give him the victory after holding his serve in the next game. This victory allowed Cerúndolo not only to reach the final, where he will face the winner of the match between Argentine Sebastián Báez (4th) and Italian Luciano Darderi (2nd), but also to secure defending the points he obtained in this tournament last year. The one this Sunday will be Cerúndolo's third final at the Argentina Open, after those reached in 2021 and 2025, in which he lost to his compatriot Diego Schwartzman and the Brazilian João Fonseca, respectively.
